Brick masonry is broadly used in the construction of buildings and day to day quality of bricks are reduced due to poor structural design and this bed joint reinforced bricks resist higher loads and reduce the cracks in the wall especially in earthquake zone. In this paper are reported crack patterns for different reinforced, unreinforced masonry walls and conducted various tests like compression test, diagonal shear, masonry prism, water absorption, mortar, tensile tests for both reinforced and unreinforced masonry walls experimentally. The equipment used to the brick is loading frame. The masonry performance of the building is used to improve in a seismic zone and it is due to lack of construction design in reinforced masonry walls. Experimental investigations on brick walls to study the effect of reinforcement on deformation, stiffness, and strength have been carried out. In the literature studies is shown that reinforcement is used to improve the plane shear capacity but achieved improvement in ductility capacity. However, almost no research on brick walls with different types of reinforcement and height to depth with different aspect ratio of wall is available. The current study includes experimental study on burnt brick masonry walls of different aspect ratio, with and without reinforcement walls. The difference in performance of unreinforced masonry walls, walls with IS 4326 (1993) detailing and reinforced masonry walls is evaluated in terms of stiffness, ductility, strength and energy dissipation.
