摘要

The process of environmental monitoring of agricultural buildings plays a vital role for the producers as it gives the opportunity of controlling several indoor and outdoor factors such as temperature, relative humidity, gas emissions, etc. Producers can intervene in case of an occurring problem and prevent any damage that can be caused to their products. Therefore, environmental management can lead to products improvement and increase of producers profits. In the present study, a low-cost system was built in order to measure indoor temperature and relative humidity of a plastic greenhouse as well as CO2 concentrations inside a poultry house. Both agricultural buildings were located in Northern Greece. The experiments were conducted during spring period and the aim of the experimental system was to provide accurate and reliable measurements by simultaneously saving time and money. The system was based on an open-source microcontroller device (Arduino) and several sensors for measuring the aforementioned environmental parameters in both agricultural buildings. The results lead to the conclusion that the Arduino-based measuring system can provide accurate and credible information about indoor environmental conditions and consequently facilitate producers' tasks and increase their profits.
