QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF DRINKING WATER FROM SEVERAL PRIVATE WELLS FROM LAZURI VILLAGE (SATU MARE COUNTY, ROMANIA)

In the present study it was investigated the chemical and microbiological quality of eight private wells located in Lazuri village (Satu Mare County - NW of Romania). A total of 48 samples were collected during six sampling campaigns (April, June, July, October, November and December 2018). The investigated physicochemical parameters were pH, redox potential, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, salinity, dissolved ions (NO2-, NO3-, Br-, F-, Cl-, PO43-, SO42-, Li+, Na+, NH4+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+) and the total content of heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Fe, Cr, Cd, Ni, Pb). The microbiological analyses consisted in assessment of the colony forming units (cfus) and isolation of bacterial strains. In some water samples, the permissible limits were exceeded for NO 3(90%), Pb (69%), Ca2+ (38%), NO2- (20%), K+ (26%), Ni (19%), SO42- (15%) and Cl- (10%). The biological analysis showed a range of 40-2460 cfu/ml in different samples. The water mineralisation was higher during rainy season (April-May 2018) and lower in dry season (June 2018). The wells located at lower depth (7.5 m) prove to be more vulnerable to natural and anthropogenic pollution.
