MONEASA BALNEOCLIMATIC RESORT BETWEEN SHELTER BIOCLIMATE AND BAD WEATHER

This paper presents the exceptional balneoclimatic offer of Moneasa resort located at the foothills of Codru-Moma Mountains and the parameters of a large-scale meteorological event that affected the resort, in order to set off an alarm signal to the tourism managers so that they can take into account in future the natural risks to which their investments are subject, as well as to tourists who intend to spend their holidays in such places. Thus, due to the morphology of the cul-de-sac landscape where the air masses may channel and move towards with great speed causing major damage, the resort can be affected by dangerous meteorological phenomena, such as the squall of 17/09/2017. This has caused significant damage, destroying the roofs of houses and outbuildings, accommodation and catering units, the Orthodox Church in Ranusa, the Saint Peter and Paul Hermitage, the administrative institutions, the medical practice, the leisure centre, etc. Damages were also caused to the public service units and the trees knocked down by the thunderstorm in the public park have damaged 35 cars and caused the death of one person.
