摘要

Groundwater in impermeable rock formations flows through fractured zones acting as groundwater conduits. Remotely sensed lineaments corresponding to fractures in rocks were mapped using Landsat TM and ETM+ band combinations in False Colour Composites and band ratios. Open Source/freeware GIS software was used to combine the Remote Sensing (RS) investigation results with ancillary data. Research results were evaluated using field observations and ground water data from water wells and borings in the implementation area. As resulted, the Geomatics Technologies used can provide reliable information and support decisions when prospecting for groundwater in rocky environments, thus reducing time and costs and leading to successful results.
