"In high-strength concrete, a compression lap splice may be calculated to be longer than a tension lap splice according to ACI 318-08. An experimental study of 72 specimens was conducted on compressive lap splices using concrete compressive strengths of 80 and 100 MPa (11,600 and 14,500 psi), and the effects of concrete strength, splice length, and transverse reinforcement were assessed," scientists in Suwon, South Korea report.
