PLANT COMMUNITY COMPOSITION AND SMALL MAMMAL COMMUNITIES IN OLD FIELDS ON VIRGINIA'S COASTAL PLAIN

Captures of four insectivores (Sorex longirostris, S. hoyi, Cryptotis par- va, and Blarina brevicauda), two granivores (Zapus hudsonius and Reithrodonto- mys humulis), one granivore-omnivore (Peromyscus leucopus), and one grazer (Mi- crotus pennsylvanicus) from Virginia's Coastal Plain were analyzed to evaluate the relationship of small mammal communities to plant community composition and structure in three old fields.
