PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism community exhibiting a decomposition activity capable of being maintained against a wide range of homologous substances such as PCB, etc., for a long time and an artificial medium capable of further reinforcing the decomposing activity.;SOLUTION: This microorganism community having a high dechlorinating activity against a 2-chlorinated or 6-chlorinated polycyclic aromatic chlorinated compound is obtained by administering an aromatic chlorinated compound in a swampy reducing layer soil without being polluted by the aromatic chlorinated compound, especially a gley horizon soil of a rice paddy, and culturing in the soil under an anaerobic condition. The artificial medium is provided by using porous materials rich in voids, such as activated carbon, an aggregated body of an inorganic material-made beads, calcined soil or the like as a main raw material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
