The availability of appealing video content has prompted many manufacturers to put extra effort into the development of HD projectors for home theaters and digital cinemas. The term digital cinema applies to movies adopting entirely digital formats through all processes from recording through screening. Movies for digital cinema, also called e-cinema, are recorded and edited by digital camcorders instead of conventional 35mm film cameras. Distribution to movie theaters takes place across large-capacity telecommunications networks. Screenings require digital projectors.
