With Digital Movie Camera, Sanyo Promotes New Product Category

For the Christmas shopping season, Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. has brought out the Xacti VPC-C1 to worldwide markets simultaneously. This is one of the first products available in a new category the company calls digital movie. In terms of production volume, Sanyo Electric is the world's largest manufacturer of digital cameras. However, the company makes most of its digital cameras on an OEM basis for camera manufacturers. For that reason, relatively few digital cameras made by Sanyo carry the Sanyo brand. In the case of the Xacti VPC-C1, Sanyo Electric offers the product under the Sanyo brand everywhere except in the United States, where it appears under Fisher brand.
