Pioneer PDPs, DVD Recorders, Car Navigation Units Take Center Stage

Pioneer Corp. has set a sales goal of ￥1.2 trillion for the fiscal year ending March 2006. To achieve this goal it will restructure the company while it concentrates its resources on strategic products, including PDPs, DVD recorders and car navigation systems. To kick off this new strategy, Pioneer has been aggressively promoting these products in Japan and in overseas markets. At CES 2003, which opens in January in the United States, Pioneer will introduce many futuristic concept products, says Takuya Machida, General Manager, Entertainment Department, Consumer Audio/Video Products Division, Home Entertainment Co. Pioneer also will introduce many new products at CES 2003, including PDPs and DVD recorders. As part of its campaign to promote the sales of PDPs, Pioneer plans to introduce the PDSP-1, one of the first digital sound projector in the world that uses a single-panel real surround system. This is a perfect complement to Pioneer's PDP TV lineup.
