Fire Technology's new display technology, TDEL, is ideally suited for large screen TV applications due to its light weight, thin package and low cost. One of the characteristics of thick dielectric electroluminescence or TDEL is the thin layer of inorganic blue phosphor that emits the light for the display. Refining a process to deposit this phosphor for volume production was one of the objectives for iFire's new pilot production facility. An innovative approach has been developed using reactive RF magnetron sputtering of Ba_XAl:Eu alloy targets for depositing this thin-film for 34"-diagonal display panels.
