Demand for digital cameras has been growing sharply in such emerging markets as China and Russia. By contrast, in most industrialized markets, such as North America and Europe, demand has remained about constant. The exception is Japan where shipments of digital cameras in January rose to 562,343 units, an increase of 11.2 percent compared to January 2006, according to statistics by the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA).
