Panasonic's flat panel high-definition (HD) TVs are positioned to become "digital hearths," the center of the 21st century home where family and friends gather. That's the vision put forward by Toshihiro Sakamoto, President of Panasonic AVC Networks Co. He delivered the keynote address at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the United States, in January. In presenting Panasonic's flat panel HDTV as a digital hearth, Sakamoto explained that the concept of placing large-screen flat panel displays at the center of the living room puts an emphasis on family time spent experiencing entertainment.
