Kyosemi Forecasts for Spherical Cells in Windows, Walls

Kyosemi Corp. plans to cultivate sales of its spherical Sphelar solar cells outside Japan for applications related to living spaces, such as in walls and windows. Kyosemi also expects to see more applications for the Sphelar modules in Japan. After starting research and development on solar cells in 1994, Kyosemi in 2004 trade-marked the Sphelar name for its spherical solar cells. Because Sphelar cells are round, they can make use of light from all directions for power generation. This is the most distinctive feature of Sphelar cells. Each Sphelar cell measures about 1mm to 2mm in diameter and has negative and positive electrodes on opposite sides of each sphere.
