The influx of multifunctional mobile devices such as mobile phones have slowly shadowed the growth of handheld device market, which suffered its fifteenth consecutive quarter of decline in shipments. The Worldwide Handheld QView of market research firm IDC said vendors shipped only 728,894 handheld devices during the 3rd quarter of 2007, although about 1.5 percent more than the previous quarter, it was 39.3 percent fewer year-on-year.
