Maximizing Use and Value of E-Books in the Medical Library

The Internet provides the opportunity for the library and its wealth of information to become part of the workflow of its patrons, extending usefulness and maximizing the value of dollars expended to build and maintain collections. This column will examine this principle as it relates to electronic books: the successes and challenges for medical libraries in this new environment where value for all stakeholders (publishers, libraries, aggregators, and information consumers) is in a state of flux.
