As the conceit of Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfa (EMW) becomes increasingly ingrained in US Navy operations and doctrine, so the critical importance of new surface ship EW capabilities is coming back to the fore. This reflects the underlying need to monitor and understand the Electromagnetic Environment (EME), exploit that awareness to gain control of the EME in order to achieve tactical advantage action across all mission areas, and deny its use to adversaries.
