Transana Video Analysis Software as a Tool for Consultation: Applications to Improving PTA Meeting Leadership

摘要

The chief aim of this article is to illustrate the potential of using Transana, a qualitative video analysis tool, for effective and efficient school-based consultation. In this illustrative study, the Transana program facilitated analysis of excerpts of video from a representative sample of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings over the course of 1 year. The results of the study gave insight into the impact of various combinations of verbal and nonverbal behaviors of the PTA leader on the reactions of PTA meeting participants.
