摘要

The effect of yarn dyeing industry effluent (10 to 100%) was studied on seed germination and seedling growth of green grain (Vigna radiata). A gradual decrease in the germination of seeds and seedling growth with increase in effluent concentration was observed. Undiluted effluent (100%) had an inhibitory effect on germination in the laboratory conditions, whereas in field conditions, the same treatment resulted in 45% seed germination. The seedling growth was delayed at 10% concentration itself. Shoot length and root length were drastically affected and the effect gradually decreased with increasing age of the seedlings.
