摘要

In The Economic Structure of International Law, Joel Trachtman, a Professor of Law at the Fletcher School, sets out to create a social scientific analysis of the structure of international law based on economic principles. In relying on game theory and on transaction cost analysis in the tradition of Coase, Williamson, and North, his analysis is consistent with work in political science over the past quarter-century on international cooperation.rnStates are interpreted as rational actors seeking to achieve their preferences, which are not necessarily interpreted as purely based on materialistic gain.
