Thomas Piketty's Capital in the Twenty-first Century is a landmark work. Together with its technical appendix and website it presents the results of many years of research on the role of personal wealth and inheritance in economic inequality. The book has had a large impact and readership, reflecting the fact that wealth has been rising both in quantitative importance and in its salience in the public mind for some time, and that this is a highly readable and scholarly volume.
