In situ self-assembly one-dimensional(1D) PbS nanocrystals were synthesized via hydrothermal route using Pb(NO3)(2) and thiourea as starting materials. The reaction temperature was maintained at 150 degrees C for 3 h. The I D materials are 85nm in breadth and 1.5 mu m in length. The results show that the concentrations of raw materials and reaction temperature play important factors in the formation of I D and high-orientation products. The products also showed blue shift in the UV-Vis and PL spectra. This preparation conditions are simple and easy to operate and control, and might be used to synthesize other I D self-assembly nanomaterials. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
