Large and bulky crystals (several cm~3) of the 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium dihydrogenphosphate (2A5NPDP) phase have been grown in solution at rates around 10 mm/day was achieved by the increase of the relative supersasturation (σ≈13/100). We have inhibited the spontaneous nucleation for several days (induction time) through the complete dissociation of the clusters by overheating or ultrasonic treatments of the solutions prior the growth experiments. The characterizations of the crystalline quality by X-ray diffraction and X-ray topography clearly show that conventional and rapid growths lead to a similar high crystalline perfection.
