Challenges and critiques of the EU internal security strategy: rights, power and security

It is something of an understatement to say that the EU Internal Security Strategy is becoming increasingly complex as it develops over time whilst attempting to operate against the background of growing diversity in law enforcement systems across EU member states. As the nine contributors to this collection of essays make clear, it will continue for a long time to be a work in progress not only in its commitment to addressing traditional trans-national security threats but also in attempting to react to emerging concerns either from new types of crime or with problems arising from earlier phases of the strategy.
