As the editors of this book recognize, writing on neo-liberalism today is an enormous challenge. The current debate about the good or the bad state of capitalism and, consequently, the strengths and weaknesses of the neoliberal doctrine, produces endless opinions and arguments. At the same time, with its dynamism, the financial and economic world crisis confirms or rejects these analyses, which seem to be correct one day and wrong twenty-four hours later. Thus, the changing nature of neo-liberalism and capitalism in a crisis context makes any diagnosis risky, as constellations of facts are overtaken by events. So how should one deal with it? This book manages that risk in a very satisfactory way even if, as we will see, its conclusions are not unproblematic.
