摘要

Trusting Nudges argues that political officials should adopt a "Bill of Rights" with respect to using behavioural insights in policy. Most important to Sunstein and Reisch is the preservation of human autonomy and promotion of social welfare under a set of ethical commitments when employing behaviourally informed policies, loosely gathered under the term "nudges." They are defending nudges from objections that such policies are "unacceptably manipulative or as an interference with freedom" (p. 4) using both normative and empirical research. The book is an explication and extension of the authors' previous works (sometimes with other coauthors), based on a series of surveys conducted in 17 nations that ask respondents for their approval of various hypothetical nudge policies (Reisch and Sunstein 2016; Reisch et al. 2017; Sunstein 2016a, b; Sunstein et al. 2018a, b).
