Time, Cost, and Energy Consumption Analysis on Construction Optimization in High-Rise Buildings

The multiobjective optimization problems in project management have always been the issues on which project managers focus. Currently, few investigators consider the multiobjective optimization model suitable for high-rise buildings considering energy consumption optimization problems in construction. Nevertheless, the implementation of civil engineering in the construction industry is always an important cause of energy consumption. In this study, construction process analysis (CPA) is used to calculate statistical parameters of the energy consumption in high-rise buildings during the construction stage. Principal component analysis (PCA) is then used to describe the correlation among time, cost, and energy consumption, and also quantifies their interdependence. The statistical analysis illustrates that the correlation between energy consumption and cost is stronger than that between energy consumption and time. And the correlation between cost and time is similar to that between time and energy consumption. Additionally, cost and energy consumption have a positive correlation, cost and time have a negative correlation, and time and energy consumption also have a negative correlation. The major contribution of this study is to provide a time-cost-energy consumption multiobjective optimization model taking account of the different decision preferences of project managers. It could also help project managers create the best combination of project construction activities in practical engineering management. The simulation in a real case is proposed to verify the accuracy of the model. Furthermore, the model could also provide reference value for further construction projects.
