Editor's Introduction

I'm pleased to write my first introduction as incoming managing editor of Journal of Communication Inquiry. I begin by thanking Andrea M. Weare for her work editing the journal over the last year, including the October special issue on Digital Feminist Media Studies. I would also like to thank Gigi M. Durham for her years of service as the journal's executive editor. In 2016, Gigi passed responsibility to Thomas Oates, who holds a dual appointment in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Department of American Studies at the University of Iowa. So this introduction serves as a welcome to Tom as well. The articles and reviews in this issue of the journal reflect its continuing roots in the qualitative inquiry of critical-cultural communication phenomena.
