Basic Examination and Development of Joint Constructions for Making-Up Textile Laminates

Textile laminates can be adapted to specific applications by a care- fully directed selection of different fabrics and/or polymer sheets before the fabric- to-fabric bonding or lamination. Besides the mechanical properties described by the stress-strain-performance, the properties to be emphasised include the barrier behav- iour against moisture, liquid, bacteria, heat and/or electrical energy. Such products are rarely used as two dimensional fabrics. Three dimemional covers/garments produced out of separate specimens with different cut outlines are more typical; thus, the construction of joints and the resulting behaviour are of high importance.
