First case of spontaneous myospherulosis of the liver

There is only one case series dealing with hepatic myospherulosis. However, these cases occurred after embolisation of the portal vein, and myospherulosis was located in hepatic veins rather than in liver parenchyma.Our patient had not so far, undergone any intervention affecting the liver. One of the multiple cysts of the liver, seen in the CT scan 16 months previously, had the same location and size as the tumour of the liver due to myospherulosis. As there was no major trauma or iatrogenic intervention affecting the liver, a spontaneous bleeding into the cyst, and consecutive reaction of erythrocytes with the fatty liver parenchyma might be the cause of myospherulosis in our case.
