Labor mobility in China has attracted much attention because regional labor shortage has become a distinct trend and is expected to last for some years. At the same time, inadequate supply of skilled labor, i.e., technicians and senior technicians will not be resolved in the foreseeable future. The implementation of the Labor Contract Law in 2008 to some extent empowers workers and enhances their bargaining power. These developments mean that labor mobility is not just a researchers' concern, but that of employers, foreign investors and government economic planners.
