Pilots F/O Brian G. Carr-Harris, F/L Alfred A. Leitch, S/L Thomas A. Lawrence, and Fox News photographer George Valiquette pause in front of Fokker G-CAHG for this 19 February 1928 photo. The original caption was "Inspecting emergency kit before patrol." The people not facing the camera or in the background were not identified. The onboard stores, which included an oil draining and heating kit, were instrumental in the safe return to base of otherwise lost crews on three occasions during their year in the north. Overall, the expedition benefitted greatly from a combination of excellent leadership and the assistance of Inuit guides employed at each base.
