MANAGING ORGANIZATIONAL COMPETENCE THROUGH TRANSFER OF TRAINING: A STUDY OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN INDIA

The purpose of this paper is to study the various factors which contribute to the competence of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India. This paper examines the transfer of training as one of the factors which impacts the competences of SMEs in India. The study was conducted in Delhi/NCR region of India and focused on Indian SMEs. This paper endeavors to test and establish the relationship between -Independent variable i.e, Transfer of training which is measured through Relevance of training programmes, Supervisor's support, Culture promoting transfer of training, Performance orientation, and Peer support, and dependent variable i.e, Organizational competence which included Resource based competence i.e. RBC (measured through KSA and innovation), Transformation based competence i.e. TBC (measured through commitment an work efficiency, and Output based competence i.e. OBC (measured through job mastery and quality of products/services). The study was conducted on 150 respondents. The respondents were the employees of SMEs in Delhi/NCR region and the responses were analyzed with the help of SPSS. Transfer of training was found to have strong relationships with the RBC, TBC, and OBC through relevance of training programmes, performance orientation and peer support.
