The NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT (ANFTA) AND SMALL CALIFORNIA FIRMS: THE DEBATE CONTINUES

The impact of NAFTA on the United States economy has been debated for over 5 years. For over 20 years it has been recognized that the great majority of new job formation has come from small firms. This study analyzes the effect of NAFTA on small California firms that export. The results suggest that the impact of NAFTA on exports and employment is almost nonexistent. Also, the impact of production factor mobility for Small firms appears to be negligible.
