Impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement on Transportation in the Border211 Areas of the United States with Emphasis on the California-Mexico Border

The Norman Y. Mineta International Institute for Surface Policy Studies (IISTPS)211u001eat San Jose State University conducted this study to identify impacts of the 211u001eNorth American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on transportation in the U.S. border 211u001eareas, with emphasis on the California-Baja California border zone. Major focus 211u001ewas placed on the identification of recommendations to the California Department 211u001eof Transportation (Caltrans) to improve the ability of that organization to 211u001eidentify and accelerate short-term implementation of the needed infrastructure 211u001eimprovements. The subjects covered include a literature review, identification of 211u001eissues in the form of questions, discussion of the questions, and categorization 211u001eof the questions as: Issues not appropriate for further consideration in this 211u001estudy; Issues recommended for action at a later date; Issues addressed by others; 211u001eand Issues recommended for short-term action.
