Financial globalisation and sustainable finance: Implications for policy and practice

The papers included in this special issue have been presented at a conference on "Financial Globalisation and Sustainable Finance" held in Cape Town in May 2013. The conference was co-hosted by the European Centre for Corporate Engagement (ECCE), a research institute based at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics, and University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB). The conference was kindly sponsored by Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA), JP Morgan and Stichting Wet-enschappelijk Onderzoek Limburg (SWOL). Two keynote speakers anchored the conference sessions. Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (CON), Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, focused on banking sector reforms in Nigeria and the implication for financial globilisa-tion and sustainability while Bill Megginson, Rainbolt Chair in Finance at the University of Oklahoma's Michael F. Price College of Business, explored the global impact of sovereign wealth funds as investors and development financiers.
