Malaysian Economy Sets Sight on Eighth Straight Year of Growth for 1995

With the manufacturing sector in the lead, the Malaysian economy has grown rapidly for the past seven years. During this period, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew more than 8 percent annually. By the end of 1994, the Malaysian gross national product (GNP) stood at RM198.8 billion (US$79.5 billion), giving this country of 19.5 million people a per-capital GNP of RM9.961 (US$3,984).
