Architectural Principles in the Age of Cybernetics

摘要

There is a body of research within recent scholarship on mid-twentieth century architecture that proposes as its object of study a rather different goal than what might be assumed to be within the purview of historical work: to provide a critical account of the formation of some aspect of contemporary architectural discourse. The approach to this kind of scholarly writing locates a particular concept, event, or set of ideas found within architectural texts of the last half-century to track their fortune through various discursive realms up to the present. This kind of intellectual engagement is demanding; it requires a keen questioning of architecture, an aptitude for analysis and interpretation, as well as a more than fair command of the material evidence and current design practice.
