The privatisation of Madinah Airport, Saudi Arabia

The first privatisation of an entire airport in the Arabian Gulf was concluded at Madinah airport, Saudi Arabia on 21st June, 2012, and represented a milestone for traditional airport transactions.This paper discusses Saudi Arabia's progressive experience with airport public-private partnership, summarises the award-winning Islamic finance structure, and presents the results of the first nine months of this pioneering transaction.
