Ensuring That Our Air Transportation System Remains Strong, Safe, and Secure

Much attention has recently been focused on funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Yet, despite a number of forums, conferences, and hearings on the subject, the picture remains clouded. FAA Trust Fund revenues are going up, but balances are going down. The President's long-term projections for the Trust Fund are positive, but the margin for error is small. The one certainty in all of this is that it is imperative for the United States to have a strong and robust air transportation system. For the past 100 years, the U.S. has been the world's leader in virtually all aspects of aviation, and that leadership has been fundamental to our nation's success.
