Launch of an Advanced Training System by German DFS Academy

In March 2003, a new training system was implemented in the Academy of the German Air Navigation Provider (DFS). For the present, this step constituted the last chord of a tremendous concerted effort, which was spent to support the launch of a modern and Europewide harmonised training system. In 1990 the European Community reacted on the urgent demand of the aviation world to harmonise the Air Traffic Services in Europe. It was obvious, that too many different ATS systems and procedures all over Europe caused considerable delay in air traffic. Accordingly the "European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC)" developed its "Strategy for the 90s". One major issue was the call for a more harmonised level of performance in control centres throughout the ECAC area.
