Working on such an involved and multi-faceted project often boils down to one simple factor: the team. Intricacies are present there as well, though, and staying on task and on time relies heavily on team dynamics. As the Oakland team set themselves up for success, Engineering, Tech Ops, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), and tower management all communicated to get on the same page. "The tone was set well in advance with Sean, Dale, and myself," said Rodney Ray, engineering technician for WSA Engineering Services. "My team caught their vision of what they wanted the tower to be. They listened to the challenges l've seen arise in the past - typically I encounter a lot of 'hands-off' attitudes, but this is one of the best relationships l've had with an air traffic team."
