Evaluation of Critical Success Factors for Developing Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Botswana

摘要

This study uses information from a survey questionnaire to investigate reasons for poor small and medium-sized enterprise development in Botswana by testing three hypotheses that link company characteristics, owner-managers’ characteristics, and entrepreneurial motives to responses to avaricious environmental phenomena. Few significant relationships were found between owner/manager characteristics and firm characteristics, and entrepreneurs’ attitudes. However, the sector/industry in which an entrepreneur was operating was found to have a positive effect on entrepreneurs’ attitudes.
