The Influence of Care Management Tools on Physician Practice Change Across Organizational Settings

This study describes the receipt of care management tools by primary care physicians from a wider range of health care organizations than has previously been evaluated, including medical groups, IPAs, health plans, hospitals, and group/staff model HMOs. Physicians who received a practice profile from a medical group were more likely than physicians from other types of organizations to report a practice change. At the same time, we found that tools delivered from both inside and outside medical group practice contributed to physicians reporting that they had made a practice change.
