Eight Urgent Care Center Best Practices for Safe Care Transitions

The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA; Naper-ville, Illinois), which represents the majority of urgent care centers in the United States, endorses the eight Urgent Care Center Best Practices for Safe Care Transitions, as described by Shamji et al. in a recent article, "Improving the Quality of Care and Communication During Patient Transitions: Best Practices for Urgent Care Centers," in The Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety and recommends that they be recognized as the standard for transitional care in the urgent care industry. UCAOA supports the integrated delivery of health care through coordinated patient-centered care and agrees that successful transitions of care for patients require timely, accurate, and sufficient communication between clinical care teams.
