Ⅲ. MITI Informatization Measures for FY 98

摘要

This chapter outlines informatization-related measures by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for fiscal 1998. The budget amounts cited herein are for fiscal 1998, and the figures given in parentheses ( ) indicate fiscal 1997 funding. Electronic Commerce (EC) drastically changes the internal organization and. operations of companies, and relationships between companies, and dramatically improves the productivity and efficiency of economic activities. As such, EC is an effective means of promoting the structural reform of an economic society. Consequently, based on the results of policies implemented to date, MITI has worked out various measures for constructing the foundations for the growth and development of Japan in the digital economy that is fast approaching, policies aimed at the all-out introduction of EC into various industries, businesses and inter-industry fields, and the extension of these capabilities worldwide.
