Electrical Breakdown Strength of Gamma-Irradiated Transformer Oils

摘要

To understand the properties of gamma-irradiated transformer oils, we measured the electrical breakdown voltages and dissolved components in the oils after gamma irradiation. From the voltage measurements and an analysis of H_2O concentration in the oils, we concluded that the voltages have a strong negative correlation with H_2O concentration. We also confirmed that overall chromatographic profiles of the oils were unchanged, regardless of the generation of H_2O and volatile components by the gamma irradiation. We concluded that the intrinsic properties required for transformer oil are not affected by gamma irradiation up to a dose of 850 kGy.
