Commodore Carsten Fjord-Larsen Force Commander, Operation 'Agenor'

On 13 January Commodore Carsten Fjord-Larsen of the Royal Danish Navy (RDN) took over the helm as force commander of Operation 'Agenor': the military pillar of the European Maritime Awareness mission in the Strait of Hormuz (EMASOH). Operation 'Agenor' was launched in November 2019 as the European response to rising tensions in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. Eight European countries contribute to the initiative, including France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The French naval base in Abu Dhabi serves as the Force Headquarters (FHQ) for the operation's tactical staff.
