Zumwalt fires first standard missile

The US Navy's (USN's) guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) has successfully completed its first live-fire test of the MK 57 vertical launching system with a Standard Missile (SM)-2, the service confirmed on 19 October. Zumwalt executed the live-fire test at the Naval Air Weapons Center Weapons Division Sea Test Range, near Point Mugu, on 13 October, the USN said.
